Abstract:
Lack of Protein P in the pregnant black African woman is the cause of the birth of a child without melanin.
Africa: We notice an increase in the birth of Black Albinos Children. The biggest reason for death for albinos is skin cancer and other major problems are eye disease, not seeing at a distance, the need for sun protection for eyes and skin, and school integration. An albino might have no albino children. On average, every family might have 2-3 albino children. When a family said there no albino in our family, it might be that they were marginalized or killed. No autism is detected or dental problems.
Introduction:
A mission from EMLA and Lions Club was organized for The Voice of the Albinos in Kinshasa with the participation of mothers and children with a party at the Faden House Mr. Arcadie, the president of the organization gathered the children on Sunday after church. We had Juice 🥤, wine, sandwiches 🥪, sweets, and speeches were given specially to acknowledge the suffering of the mothers. Albinos’ children integrate into society and become doctors and lawyers…. We presented Dana’s painting which will be auctioned for their benefits.
Materials and Methods:
The mission of the EMLA & New York Agape Foundation Lions Club to Congo is to distribute glasses in hand by Lion Dr. Dana York the president of the New York Agape Foundation Lions Club to the albino children. 80 pairs of glasses were distributed in hand. 80 Children and mothers attended. 😍 The event happened in Kinshasha at the Faden House on the 26th of January. Albino children attended from the Voice of Albinos with their mothers.
The reason for giving birth to an albino is the lack of protein P that happens during pregnancy Which leads to a lack of melanin. We found out the other major needs: sunscreen, school fees, sunglasses. The biggest cause of mortality for albinos is skin cancer.
Results:
Albinos are marginalized many times excluded from society.
They are not Autistic; they have mental capacity for going to school to become lawyers and doctors. The mothers of albino children often become victim of violence. If a family in Africa would tell you, oh no , we don’t have albinos in our family … it might be that they where excluded. In congo: one year child school fees = 60 $, midschool =100, highschool 200 , in Tanzania one year university 500$. However it is heard to find this money sometimes and smart children might miss oportunity
89 pairs of glasses in total 150 pairs of glasses were donated One part was for « the Voice of Albinos « and the other bundle of glasses was sent by post to the Organization for the Albinos of Congo that will be distributed on the 11th of June 2024
Our work with the albinos’ children does not stop at the glasses. We discovered the need for School scholarships (200 $ a year), Sunglasses, Sun Cream Protection, Para Soleil Umbrellas, and a campaign of knowledge to prevent discrimination, stigma, and marginalization for both mother and albino children.
Conclusions:
All the children enjoyed the care, attention, gifts, party. The mothers most enjoyed the fact that this event was specifically for them, victims of violence giving birth to an albino child.
The need for normalization and acceptance in society made our mission to Congo very successful with a great wish to continue our love 💕 for those lovely children, their mothers, and their progress. The prevention of child skin cancer is a must and needs SPF cream and protection.
The glasses were a great success. 100% of children needed the glasses. Some glasses were given to the mothers as well.
